We created a brand around the needs of those who live and work in the city.
The We Are Bar team wanted to raise the bar for drinking in the city. They asked us to help them define, name, create and build their brand.
The aim was to create a bar that put its customers first. So our approach had to do the same. We used focus groups and interviews to get to know our audience, then defined the positioning around their needs. A brand built from the ground up to look after city workers better than everyone else. A brand that moved to the beat of the city.
We wanted to put down a marker with a bold, distinctive name. A name that felt inclusive, neighbourly and wholehearted. A statement of intent that would underpin the entire brand.
Visual & verbal identity
The visual identity took its lead from the name. Bold. Energetic. Direct. A bracket device communicates its inclusiveness, while a typographic-led system allowed us to be expressive though a distinctive tone of voice.
Bringing it to life
The first We Are Bar opened in Bishopsgate in September 2016. We created a suite of menus and brand collateral, the website and a full set of brand photography for the launch. In addition, we commissioned a set of illustrations for the walls, and worked closely with Grapes Design who created the interiors.
We’ve collaborated with Ragged Edge on a fresh and exciting new concept which will be very successful. They guided us through every step of the brand creation process and their strategic, customer-focussed approach made all the difference. The results speak for themselves.
